We stayed the night in the little hotel next to Longhorn Cafe. So when we got ready to go and talked about finding a place to eat on our way out, we looked up and saw the Cafe-how convenient! We walked in and it had such a great atmosphere. You could tell that it was mostly for the locals and it was so good to see. I'm from a small town and this was very common for the locals to get together in the mornings and have coffee and maybe a little breakfast.
The food was absolutely great!!! That good ole Grandma cooking! Real eggs? Real potatoes for the hashbrowns? Good orange juice and not watered down? WOW!! What a great way to wake up in the morning for a long drive.
You see, we are from South Houston. We drove all Sunday night to get to Bowie, then got up early Monday holiday morning to drive to Henrietta to pick up my new truck and then drive all the way back to South Houston so my husband could get back to work early Tuesday morning. I wish I could have had lunch and/or dinner to get me through the rest of the day.
As far as racism, I did not see any of that. Please if you are going to bring it up as an issue and complain directly at a person and not to their face, be a real human being and leave your name-at least your first name. You better get your feelings in order and wear them on your sleeve. If you take offense of everything on this earth, you will have a sad, miserable life and feel you need to keep your guard up all of the time. Laugh it off. Have fun with it. God will take care of people-it's not your job.
Every chance I get to visit this cafe again, I will!!
Thanks for the great service and courtesy of a small town with friendly folks. God Bless ya'll!

I TRAVEL THRU BOWIE AT LEAST 2 TIMES A WEEK GOING TO AMARILLO. I ALWAYS STOP AND EAT AT THE LONGHORN CAFE.THE FOOD IS WONDERFUL AND A VERY GOOD PRICE. IT REALLY IS GOOD OLE HOME COOKING. I ALWAYS GET GOOD SERVICE.
I know this is Bowie (the bigot county in Texas) but there is no need in commenting on whats on T.V. in the restaurant, especially if there are black people in there. That is offensive to them. OH, and by the way, I don't care if they are black because I was taught that people who lash out racial slurs are just ignorant. I had to leave the restaurant ,not only because I felt offended but because that waitress Sandy ( who by the way can not keep her family under dcontrol in a restaurant) is extremely rude to people. Speaking of the racial slurs, I am Jewish and if I were in a place like that,I would probably slug the persons and the waitress,Sandy, so watch who you offend in a place of business because you don't know who you are going to hurt!

I have had experiences with racial slurs in most every town that I have been in. They are uncalled for,but you can't blame the restaurants for that. I happen to know the owners and they are good decent people that work hard and have good food.
