Babe's Chicken Dinner House

We have visited the Babe's in Carrollton several times, and just made our first trip to Cedar Hill. We were greeted by friendly personnel and a young woman with a lovely voice, singing. After being seated, we were approached by a friendly waitress who took our order. While waiting a short while for our food, we were treated with the staff dancing to the Boot Scootin Boogie. While the food was outstanding, the ambiance and entertainment made us feel that we had enjoyed an evening out, with great Texas style entertainment and food! Wow...what a nice experience! Kuddos to the management and staff!

if you dont like fried chicken or chicken fried steak - to my knowledge its all they serve, you need to go anyway. I've never had the chicken fried steak, but the fried chicken is outstanding - probably the best i've had and i'm not the biggest fan. Babe's is a landmark.. an icon of old school texas cuisine. To have come to the area and not have tried it is a wasted life.

Hey, it's just chicken ...: But it's pretty darn good chicken. I can't think of any Fried chicken I like better (well, not counting my grandmother's). And how many places can you go to these days and get called "honey" or darlin' by the waitress? Well, at least it's a treat for a middle aged geezer like myself. I took some of my co-workers / friends who were in town on a temporary contract and they just absolutely raved. One seemed almost obsessive about the corn. The made from scratch mashed potatos are worth every bite.
And although I can't necessarily say that Babe's has my favorite chicken-fried steak, it certainly is in the top five. Maybe even the top three. I'll have to go try it again just to make sure .. :)
I just wish they had a bigger place so there wasn't always a line hanging out the door and into the street. But that's just another indication about how wonderfully scrumptious the food is. Wow!
Great kitschy atmosphere, great food, friendly staff. It doesn't get any better than this.
