My boyfriend and I were passing thru and decided to try this place last night. After reading the other reviews, I'm bummed that it was already dark outside so we didn't really get a view. There was, however, a great tenor sax player there and that was a really enjoyable surprise. Good music and not too loud.
We ordered two appetizers and shared a sandwich, plus a few glasses of wine. My first glass of wine (Gnarly Head Zin, which I've had before and like) was funky - I think the bottle had been open a bit too long - so I sent it back. The waiter was really nice about it and didn't charge us for the glass, and he brought me a Cab which was perfect. Our mussels in wine, garlic, and curry sauce were AWESOME. My boyfriend doesn't normally like curry sauces and he was soaking his bread in the sauce to get up all the last bits. The shrimp cocktail was reasonably priced, perfectly cooked. My only negative comment would be that the shrimp were not de-veined. This doesn't bother us but I know that some people are more picky about that.
The sandwich we shared was the French Dip. The meat was very juicy but a little on the fatty side. Our fries were well-seasoned and yummy. They brought us two plates since we indicated we were sharing everything, which was a big plus because we share entrees at many places and have often had to ask for an extra plate.
Overall, it was a positive experience and we would eat there again.
Not impressed!. Service poor. Food warm not hot. Steaks dry and fatty. Seafood fair at best. View is great. Bar is good. Given 4 out of 10 stars.
The food and service continues to improve each time I go. Everyone is friendly and will make your visit as pleasant as possible. The view is relaxing and I feel like I'm almost on a deck in Maui...almost! It's very obvious a lot of money has been spent to make you comfortable. To the reviews regarding the food...if you're unhappy in any way...they will try to fix it. I realize there's some people who can't be pleased at all. To those, I feel sorry for you. Kick back and have fun....Dead Fish Grill is a fun place.
