| About: | Run by the Waco Performing Arts Company, this historic theatre, aside from the inherent good it offers by simply being preserved for posterity, is a venue in which the performing arts can offer productions of the highest quality, in order to enrich the cultural life of the community. Built in 1914 as a vaudeville theatre, the Hippodrome now hosts quality performances by both national and local groups, with shows that range from Classical Ballet to Broadway productions. |

For what it is--a historic theater--it is great. However, it is so crowded in the lobby during intermission that you can hardly move. Also, when booking touring Broadway companies, they should make sure the groups realize what a small stage they will have. I had such sympathy for some of the performers in recent years who had to modify their dance routines and on-stage activities because of the narrow stage.
It would be best served for other types of performances (musical acts, one-person shows, comedians, etc.) The Broadway series should be moved to Waco Hall. It would accommodate more people and provide an excellent stage.
