Not a cheap date location, but well worth the time and money. If you like quality and not quantity this is your place. My wife and I love this place. We have not been to the new location, but I can tell you the old location was like eating in the home of one of your best friends (who happens to be a chef). The atmosphere is cool/urban/chic and the food is perfectly cooked. For my wife and I to notice how perfectly finished the meal was is incredible. We actually found ourselves slowing down and savoring every moment of each course. We happened upon this restaurant and were delighted as the evening drifted away and we were in a foodie trance watching the music from the kitchen float through our mouths. If you want to show someone you care about them this is the placeâ¦. You can canoodle, talk and will love the food.
Terrific Cafe in Houston: My b/f and I visited just before they closed down after lunch and were met with warm smiles and great food. The chef, Susan Ralph, answered all of our questions about tofu, the cafe name, and the menu items. We enjoyed ourselves immensely, not just because the food was outstanding, but also because of the warm charm Dharma has about it. Chef Ralph even allowed us back into the kitchen to view the old vault still used by the restaurant. We are looking forward to going back for their Sunday brunch - which sounds out of this world. I highly recommend an off-hour visit to Cafe Dharma and their mediterranean plate - great greek olives, hummus and all things wonderful.
Best when eating at off peak hours: The food is great, the service is wonderful, but there is just NO SPACE!!! It's best to go during off peak hours, when you are more likely to find a seat. It's not the easiest place to find, but it's well worth it once you do. Watch out for parking on the street, you may get a ticket or towed.
