I had always wanted to get LASIK but was pretty nervous about the thought of a laser in my eye! But then about 5 people I knew got it done in the same year! They told me it was easy and there was nothing to it. They all went to Berkeley Eye Center, so I decided to go there and get it done.
I'm soooooo glad I made that decision. My vision is now 20 / 15 which is better than perfect! I HATED wearing contacts and glasses were a neusance! I sometimes see old pictured of myself and forget that I used to wear glasses.
Thank you Dr. Caplan for putting me at ease and doing such a great job! It was quick and truly painless.
I went in to have a lasik consultation which went fine even though i decided not to get it. Then i went in for a regular eye exam and i was not thrilled with the experience to say the least. The girl that took me back was not very informative and WAY to quick. i have no idea how she thinks some one can tell the difference when looking through lens 1 and lens 2.. or lens 3 or lens 4 when she only lets you see through it for like half a second before switching! i had to ask her to keep letting me see the options again but she didn't go any slower.. i have NEVER had some one go so quickly.. im really unsure as to if i even have the correct prescription since i have no idea what options were really better. THEN to top that off she tells me she is going to put some drops in my eyes but doesn't bother to tell me what these drops are going to do! So i leave the little room with her and go to wait for the actual Dr. and all of a sudden i cant see - everything is blurry and i think i'm going crazy.. but am I??? no its the drops she put in the eyes that only AFTER i ask her WTH i cant see.. she decide to tell me, oh yeah they will make your eyes blurry for a few hours. REALLY?? i had to go back to work, how the heck was i supposed to work when everything is blurry?! uugghhh.. well clearly i couldn't look for frames when i couldn't see straight so i went back a few days later to look at frames for glasses but couldn't find any i liked. so i went to several other places and 3 weeks later finally found a pair of frames i wanted!! so happy.. it took 3 weeks to find a pair i wanted but i finally found them! so i went to buy them and give them my perscirption, but could i?? NO i couldn't because Berkley STILL, 3 weeks later.. had my insurance on hold, or a pre-approval status or whatever it is they do because they ASSUME you are going to get their frames....AND of course they were closed.. on a saturday.....so i had to wait until today (monday) to ask them to remove the hold so i can actually get glasses with my insurance.... Thank goodness im moving to Florida because i would never go back there!

I don't think I can say enough good things about this experience. The staff was extremely courteous and very knowledgeable throughout the entire process. They answered my numerous questions with confidence and ease, but most importantly they made sure that I was comfortable every step of the way.
The actual surgery was described in detail beforehand, so I had zero fears going into the procedure. The act itself was very quick; and I personally felt no pain whatsoever during any portion of the surgery. One week later and here I am, seeing 20/15 and loving my new eagle eyes.
I have already strongly recommended Berkeley Eye Center to friends and co-workers, and I simply can't put into words how happy I am to be seeing clear when I wake up in the morning!
