I have been a loyal patron of The Big Easy since the day it opened, fifteen years ago, and the club used to be a fabulous place to go for happy hour. Not so anymore, since they hired this wretched bloated toad of a woman, Susan Davis, who has serious anger management problems. I have always come in for an hour or so and tipped generously, but Susan has become so unprofessional at her job that I strongly doubt that I will ever return to The Big Easy again. She is perpetually late in showing up for her shift, often as long as an hour, she is frequently in an intolerable mood, she comes in more preoccupied with her own agenda than that of serving her paying customers. She is rude, belligerent, and intolerant and on my last visit she threatened me. If she was an employee at any other establishment she would long ago have been fired, however, the management at the Big Easy is nonexistent. I can no longer recommend The Big Easy and I doubt I will ever return there as long as Susan and her mean spirited attitude, is working happy hour. She is a profoundly negative, unprofessional individual and her happy hour has nothing to offer other than strong drinks. It is no wonder that the majority of happy hour regulars have moved on to better pastures.
The music was on point and the staff made you feel at home...i'll defintely come back
I love the blues. The live music that played was wonderful and professional. No garage band here. However, the male bartender and owner were less than wonderful. I noticed how the owner of the bar would sit in the corner and when someone took his seat (you couldn't tell anyone was sitting there or using that chair, as it was off in the corner), he acted as if you stole his wife. Though he wasn't mean to me (thank gawd)- the only male bartender with the black 80's flock of seagull haircut was. I stood there as he helped everyone but me - it wasn't even one or two that he helped before me (they walked up after me), and it wasn't as if it wasn't obvious that I hadn't been served (handful of cash didn't even give him a clue). He very non-appologetically gave me the drink free though that wasn't what I wanted- i offered twice to pay, I just wanted to be served in the order of the cue-up. You could tell he couldn't crack a smile and to talk to him he wouldn't even look at you until I had to say, "Do I have to speak up?( to get served here?)" three times. I wasn't even being obnoxious, just asking a matter of fact question. So he said, "I'm just making sure my best client gets a drink". Then the client himself, an obvious alcoholic man in his 90's, turned to me and said, "And I tip like a Mo' Fo'". The free drink sucked and I'm sure if I weren't standing there watching he would have spit in it. The blonde waitress was very kind and attentive. She and the music were the only positive things about the place. I will be letting others know about my experience at this bar to save them from the rudeness or get them prepared for it. With all the places in Houston to choose from that will go out of their way to make you feel good, why go here?
