I was in Houston on a business trip and had the privilage to accidently discover this little gem. I sat at the Sushi bar and had the best eel rolls EVER while having a converstion with Victor (one of the sushi chefs). Highly recommend this place!
Best in Houston: Kubo's is the best sushi in Houston. Don't miss it.
Disappointed: I had been hearing all good comments about this restaurant.
And finally, I had a chance to try.
But,,, I was so disappointed.
I am Japanese and I have been working at Japanese restaurant for 10yrs.
I couldn't get cheated.
Anyway,
I sat at the bar.
They didn't know how to treat sushi bar customer. They were not friendly.
They have just served what I ordered,, that's it.
Also, fishes they used was not fresh. some of fish, usually, a lot of restaurant buy fresh whole fish and cut them by thierselves, but at Kubo's, I saw some fishes came out from plastic bags.
I am not against to hire sushi chefs other than Japanese, but if you do so, I expect they now real Japanese food.
But at the bar, most of them are Mexican, and their skill wasn't good.
It might be the best restaurant for those who don't know what is real Japanese food is, but I was ashamed the way they serve Japanese cuisine like that.
I really recommend to eat Japanese food where Japanese eat.
