About:Barbecue lovers and chicken fried steak aficionados have been flocking to this popular Heights area family restaurant since 1986. There is no table service, but you are welcome to grab an icy soda or beer from the old fashioned drink case while you wait to order. The rustic wood walls, vintage signs and formica tables spell out casual dining. There is plenty of seating indoors, or you can stake out a table on the small covered patio. On the weekends, there is dinner and a show when bluegrass bands take to the stage in the back dining area. The generous barbecue brisket plate, served with tangy house sauce and two sides, is dependably delicious and bargain-priced. Other popular dishes include the crispy, chicken fried steak. A kid's menu is available, and there are plenty of desserts for everyone to choose from. If you want something stronger than the iced tea served in mason jars, beer and Texas wines are both available. This place is open on Sunday at 11am.

    some of the best chicken fried steak i have ever had. great salad bar and an over all great place. the food is great every time we go . no matter if it is 2 people in our party or 10 we always have great service.

    GOOD: Everything is bigger in Texas. I usually get the chicken fried steak or the chicken fried chicken. They are both very good. It is hard to find a parking spot during lunch but there turn around is really fast. I have recommended it.

    Fun Atmosphere, Good Price, Good Food: I've been to Hickory Hollow a few times and the food is consistently good. It's not a place that knocks your socks off as it's just good home cooking. The barbecue isn't the best in town but it's consistently good. There's plenty of seating and they offer decent entertainment for free! The chicken fried steak is huge and the tea is plentiful. For a good no frills eatery in the Heights that will not break the pocket book, head over to Hickory Hollow!
