| About: | Despite its less than ritzy, strip center location, Luling City Market Real Texas Bar-B-Que was recommended to delegates attending the 1992 Republican National Convention by Time magazine. If you love good food this is the spot for you. Ribs and brisket are always a hit, but the coarsely ground, beef sausage has also earned a respectable following. Expect to spend a modest $3 to $10 for your meal, and, if you would like to add a touch of class to the experience, sip on a glass of house wine. |

After hearing about this place on TV, we made it a point to stop here on our way to San Antonio from Illinois. Arrived around noon on Sunday 3/8. CLOSED. Regardless of what their web sites says about being open Noon to 7 on Sunday. They were not. When leaving San Antonio on Tuesday 3/10, we will by pass City Market and go on up to Lockhart for our BBQ. Sorry City Market. UPDATE YOUR WEB SITE
This place is a has been.....Not representative of barbecue in Texas gar from it.....the pork was dry really really dry, the brisket had an odd flavor and was dry as well, and the ribs were undercooked.....
It was cheap but extremely hideous and unappetizing.....
After reading the reviews, I was curious to try this place. The brisket was good....maybe a little salty and has a different smokey taste than most other BBQ places in Houston. The sausage was just o.k......very different from the typical Czech style sausage. They should try to serve a better sauce. Most people like the sauce served warm over the meat, or in a bowl on the side. Their sauce is in a small bottle on the table and was no good.
