Several years ago (4-5?) I bought two rats from them. I had heard good things about them, and called them two days prior to me picking them up to make sure they had them in stock.

I was told they had plenty, and that they'd personally help me pick them out. I called them the next morning, just to double check that they had the kinds I wanted (Dumbo and hairless). The woman on the other end of the phone was a bit rude, but I ignored it and headed out.

When I got there, the store was dirty (I asked about the conditions of several reptiles, but was assured the cages would be cleaned that night), but went ahead and bought my rats. The rats were kept together (both genders) in one 20 gallon, filthy tank. I told them what I wanted (two females, one dumbo, one hairless). Without letting me specifically pick, they tossed two rats in the cage. I paid and headed out.

The rats were fortunately sweet and fairly healthy. The dumbo had mites which had to be treated, and both of them died young (one from tumors, one from uterun cancer).

I was displeased with my service then. Since then, I've bought rats via pet stores such as Petco and Petsmart, and from breeders. I've had much better luck. Even my local Petco will let me handle the rats prior to buying one!

Recently, I began looking for a short tailed possum. I googled S&S, and got nothing but horror story reviews. Another website will tell you about how they poorly shipped a snake. Another will tell you about how the owner of S&S owns several tigers and lions, and has been in trouble with the ASPCA and the Humane Society for not properly caring for them.

As for those stating it is run by lesbians, it might be now, but it wasn't when I got my rats. Back then, it was run by a man (who was actually some what knowledgable and much more friendly) and an aggressive woman.

Also, Dude saying everyone did not care for their animals; No one would be able to kill a guinea pig in 24 hours from not watering it. S&S has grown notorious for selling ill animals.

Even Petco & Petsmart have 14 day warranties on their animals, and guess what? They do much better business.

I would not buy from S&S again.

anyone who goes here should follow the negative comments, because they are all true. the owners are two grey haired lesbians that have no respect for customers or their animals. Their stuck up, snobby, threatening, etc. ***If you expect to buy something from these creeps be sure to bring 500 dollars more than what you expected bc the evil wenchers will not let you leave w/o buying all of their poisoned food thats made from CAT FOOD their specialty food thats BS, or their rip off in store merchandise that is extremely OVER PRICED, i bought much bigger cage and better food from petco, dont buy snakes or any other animal from them b/c it was probably traded in thats y some ppls snakes died b/c their not even from the store, along with their pond turtles 25$ for tutrtles picked up outside in a ditch, witnessed a snake trade in that they do not mention in sale to other buyers, also witnessed a man donate 2 pond turtles he found on the road. Honestly they do not meet any type of pet requirements. Disregard any positive reviews, I swear no body wants to buy from to disrespectful lesbians, the lady with the guinea pigs is right these idiots have the nerve to instigate and tick you off, they will threaten you take your money and when you feed it their special breeders formula it will probably die, or you might be buying someone elses animal that is swore to be breeded there. the guy that wrote the positive review is probably the guy who traded his snakes in. Trust me whom ever this may concern!!!!! this place doesnt even deserve a 1 star, -5star!!!! dont trust me go get swindled out your money.

I have bought several snakes from S & S, about 7 of them. I have had no problem with them, cuz I ACTUALLY FOLLOWED THE GUIDELINES THAT WERE GIVEN TO ME ON THE CARE SHEET. Most of the time what i see, when people say that there pets died from there, some of them don't even realize that you have to feed and water a snake or any other animal. A lot of you guys on here are pushing the blame off on the staff at S&S for YOU not taking care of your pets. Well, get educated on the pets before you buy them, know what you are doing, then i bet your pet will survive. If i were in there shoes, i would not give any type of guarantee any of my sales either, cuz honestly, most people do not know what they are doing when it comes to the care of exotics. Why would i want to give you your money back when YOU did not give him the right habitat, or YOU did not handle him correctly, or YOU did not feed/water him the way you were suppose to. DO YOU HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU BUY AND EXOTIC AND STOP TRYING TO BLAME EVERYONE ELSE FOR WHAT YOU MESSED UP ON.
