Itâs easy to miss this spot even though itâs on Westheimer. Step in, look around and greeted by Japanese women, youâll feel like you step into one of those family-owned restaurants on a street somewhere in Japan. Thereâre many Japanese over there during dinnertime. They probably feel like home, too.
Youâll find mirin-sautéd nimonoâcold-serving vegetables that are delicate in flavor and rarely appeared in menus of Houstonâs Japanese restaurantsâfor appetizer. Dabbing your chopsticks in them will make you appreciate the fact that the owner/chef would still spend time and effort to prepare them.
Sushi is very fresh but the sushi rice ball underneath is no longer firm (sushi chef is getting old). If youâre not a fan of raw meat, you can try ramen noodle or udon. Or you can try the bento box, which is my favorite because the sautéd nimono comes with it.
An advise on parking at the backâtry to avoid it. Thereâre too many potholes and it doesnât make me feel safe, especially at night.
