| About: | Le Mistral Restaurant has carved a niche for itself on the West side of Houston with some of the finest French cuisine the greater Houston area has to offer. While customers may detect a hint of Provencal flair on the menu, authentically derived from Chef and Owner, David Denis' background, Le Mistral clearly represents all regions of France. Le Mistral has transformed from a single dining room into a fine-dining establishment, with many offerings to suit individual diners' tastes and needs. Le Mistral's offerings now boast an upscale bar with flat screen television; wine cellar off the main dining area that seats up to 10; a chef's table in the kitchen for those with impeccable taste who would like a completely individualized meal; banquet room for special occasions and business functions; and soon-to-be specialty foods store, called Foody's Gourmet, which will offer Le Mistral signature items, French specialt. |

This restaurant is going downhill fast. This used to be a nice restaurant but the service was atrocious. Extremely rude waiters, complete screwups with the meal ( they served us someone else's meal!...and then proceeded to take away all the servings without any apology whatsoever). My wife ordered a filet mignon well done....then they asked how she wanted it cooked !! Comeplete imbeciles seem to be working there now. Being mother's day, there were set menus for different appetizers, entrees, and desserts......each dish appeared to have been sitting out for along period. The meat was cold, the dessert was stale. I'm afraid the owners are more concerned about opening their new location next door than treating their long-time customers with due care and respect. Don't worry, we will not be frequenting the new location when it is opened. I gave it one star since there was nowhere to show a blank space.......
Nice reliable restaurant: I find the service quite nice and the food reliably good. They're moving to a new bigger location soon (4Q'06 I believe).
Over hyped, over-priced: Visited on Aug 2006. Not a lot of good to say about it. The atmosphere was cozy despite the aggressive French waiter trying to force my pregnant wife to drink. The bisque was cold, but the french onion soup was quite good. The beef wellington tasted like wellington boots. The servers were pretty attentive. Franc for franc, I'd pick La Madeleine any day.
