Wardwell, Denise - Wardwell Insurance

I'm not even sure where to begin. I put my trust in the wrong people. I'm young and fairly new at business. I'm still learning my lessons. Denise is about twice my age and took very good advantage of me.

I was telemarketed by Cookie from Denise' office. I don't even know if this is legal or not. She got my number from another policy holder so it's in a gray area I'm sure. She offered me insurance on both of my vehicles. I explained I have one commercial with logos and one personal. I have $25,000 worth of equipment MOUNTED into my commercial van that I wanted full coverage on. She said the personal vehicle would not be a problem but I would have to talk to Denise about my commercial vehicle.

I spoke with Denise and she took down the value of the vehicle and the equipment. She was very specific "only equipment mounted in the vehicle would be covered". Good. I have a $25,000 machine in there. I also explained that State Farm quoted me $220 a month. She said she could beat that. GREAT!

A year later I have an incident. Not too big but I called to find out if anything could be done. The whole year I'm bragging to people what a good insurance agent I have and what a great deal I got. Now my foot is in my mouth.

I find out not only did she not write a full coverage policy but she didn't even write a commercial policy. So if I got into an accident that was my fault I would be out of luck in my company van! I called immediately and got the "she's not in the office" game. It was Friday. I called all day trying to straighten this out and they played the game with me until 5pm. Finally on Monday I canceled my policy and wrote a complaint to the Texas Department of Insurance.

That wasn't good enough for Denise. No no. She ignored my cancellation request and continued to bill me through February. Now my policy was "canceled for non-payment". This was simply in retaliation to my Texas Department of Insurance complaint. So now I'm getting bills for another $100 and it's been "turned over to a collection agency".

I get a call from Gina Prade in the Austin office after my second complaint to TDI. She was completely uncooperative in handling the matter. She asked me to fax her a copy of my new policy. Well, I learned my lesson not to trust these people so I refused. It's none of their business who my current insurance carrier is.

So now we're back to filing ANOTHER complaint with TDI and filing a law suit against Denise Wardwell personally and also another one against Farmers Corporate Office in California.

This was definitely a deceitful act because when called out on it rather than apologizing and trying to fix it she ignored my calls and even ignored my cancellation requests. As a business owner, if I make a mistake, I do whatever I can to take care of the customer. I don't play the "she's not in the office" game and then to top it all off ignore the requests of my customers! No no, this was no mistake, this was completely intentional. I guess she thought I would just take it when I found out and up my coverage.

BEWARE! Never sign anything they give you without taking it to an attorney first! Better yet, STAY AWAY from this agency and Farmers Insurance all together! Gina had the exact same attitude as Denise. No apology, no acknowledgment of an error, simply push the burden onto the customer. It's not only illegal but IMMORAL!
