On August 13th we took our car in with a nail in the tire - decided to replace all 4 tires with Michelins. This was at 4:00 pm. We left the car and were told we would be called in about 1 1/2 hours - there were 12 people ahead of us. After no phone call we went back at 7:00 pm to find the store closed and our car in the parking lot with the new tires and UNLOCKED. This location is across the street from a very busy beer joint whose patrons use the Discount Tire parking lot. We came home, got our spare key, went back and got our car. Not only did we not get a phone call that day, we NEVER got any calls whatsoever. We went back the next day at 10:30 am to get our key. These guys were so lost our car could have been stolen and they would never have known. Their reponse was "The guy who signed-off on your car will be in at 1:30 and we'll talk to him". They actually could not have cared less about any of this. Did I mention we spent almost $1000? So - if you want new tires on your car - and don't mind running the risk of it being stolen - please go to this Discount Tire location.
The service was prompt and courteous. However, I think the bottom line results of my visit to the store are suspicious. Road service came when I had a flat. I asked if he thought the tire could be repaired. He inspected the tire carefully while I watched and found no obvious hole. When I reached the store, the customer service rep visited with me on the way to look at my tire. He sounded a little dissappointed and commented that this had been a day of flat tire repair...and as another flat tire repair pulled into the parking lot, I could feel his energy drop. He inspected the tire while I watched and neither of us saw any damage. After the car was pulled into the bay, I was asked to look at the tire and "lo and behold" an obvious hole was in the tire - just above the tread lines and in the unrepairable area of the side wall. The representative expressed his willingness to take the tire off and assured me that things were honest and he just "missed" the hole when he inspected when I quietly commented on the serendipity of the hole appearing when the 4th person inspected. He even took me out to see the tire again. It seemed that his energy sunk when he saw that the hole in the tire WAS quite obvious for one that could not be detected by 3 earlier observers. I have no way to confirm any dishonesty in my transaction...but it is a curious situation that could possibly be fraud.
