   one of the most authentic looking chinese restaurants around. Anyone who has been to Hong Kong will recognise the layout, open kitchen up front with small dining room in the back. It looks like something out of an early John Woo movie and that is part of the appeal. The food is fresh and the portions are almost too large! for the low price. The won-ton soup is the best in Houston, hands down. Wonton is served on a large bowl with a large piece of pork, just like in China. The service is fast but since the place is so small and has no windows in dining room, it can feel confining. They do not accept credit cards so take cash.

   I have had the pleasure of eating at Hong Kong Chef for approx 25 to 30 years and have alway be pleased.
