We visited here today and I was very disappointed. It got so many stars in other reviews, but I found it to be essentially a grocery store. Much of the produce was imported from California. They had North Carolina Peaches for the same sale price Kroger was advertising. No farm experience for the kids, but the store is in a fly filled barn style building with two port-a-potties as the only bathroom available. It was definitely not worth the 45 min drive we spent to get there. I will continue my hunt for a real farmer's market experience.
We just moved to Dickinson from Michigan about 5 months ago.I have heard such nice things about this farmers market. I told my husband that I want to go there for Mother's Day and that I don't want a gift. Going there picking strawberies and getting fresh produce will be the perfect gift. I will report back about our experience.
This place is wonderful. I started going several years ago when everything was out on tables under the huge pecan and oak trees. Now they have a metal building and shopping carts to make it easier to grab all the fruits and vegetables you can fit in your car. I even bought a rose bush from them this year. I go mainly for the tomatoes and greens, but never leave without at least one fried pie...they have whole pies you can buy too. We order several during the holiday season. SO GOOD! The preserves are always amazing and they have a nice selection of dried fruits, beans, peas, bean soup mix...and on and on. And if you have a hankering to fry up some tomatoes or onions, they have the batter mix right there for you. The deer sausage (hot, mild or cheesy) is out of this world. Go next door to try it and grab some jerky for the road! I really look forward to my visits to Froberg's...even though I drive nearly 40 miles to get there.
