I am a first time visitor to Galveston, and went to Rudy & Paco after a recommendation from the bartender at the Hotel Galvez. Thank-you!
Had a wonderful evening. Started with the Crab Bisque ($8.00) which was fabulous (but very rich!). My main course was the Salmon Parrilla ($25.00) which was very good, and together with the Veal Chop I was told by the locals, was one of the two best dishes in the restaurant.
I enjoyed a bottle of Argentine Malbec ($45.00) from the reasonable wine llist and had an all together great meal.
The restaurant is not inexpensive, but is very fairly priced. The decor is very comfortable, classy, but casual, and a brass plaque marking the high water mark during Hurricane Ike (about seven feet, just a few feet short of the roof) provides a sobering reality check for life on the Gulf.
I wouldencourage any visitor to the island to give R&P a try.
What a fantastic restaurant! We have lived in the Galveston area most of our life, but my husband and I have just discovered Rudy and Paco's. The other reviews are right on. The salmon was the best I have ever eaten. The Beefsteak tomatoe salad, the crab cake appetiser, and the bread pudding desert were all perfect. The service was as well. Our server was friendly, polite, and at the same time completely professional. This restaurant has everything together! We dine out frequently. We have been to many establishments from Key West to Texas as well as Jamaica and the Mexican Riviera fine restaurants and local dives alike and this place tops them all in service, quality and quantity of food, and atmosphere! Cannot wait to go back!
excellent brand new interior, finest seafood in town, paco, the owner is most helpful, make a reservation for dinner, lengthy wine list, the finest highly trained, friendly staff on the island.
I have been eating here for over 7 years, Paco treats you better than family, order the crabcakes, they are truly the best! I have never had a bad meal here!
