Very Good Service: December 25, 2006

We decided to go to IHOP in Pearland, Texas on Christmas morning rather than wait while the son prepared breakfast for twelve and one infant. The service was very good with only a minor mix-up by the kitchen staff which delayed the son-in-law and a granchild from getting all of their food in a timely fashion.

We had a party of four leaving for Odessa, Tx and a second party of four returning to Dallas, Tx. I definitely would return to this location the next time we are in Pearland.

Breakfast for the Lazy: Typically, myself and company only patron IHOP when leaving a late night "watering hole", nothing else is open, or simply because we are TOO lazy to cook it ourselves. I realize that these are not high paid wait staff. I have been to some good locations and some bad ones. This one rates in the middle. Out of 5 visits there (it is right up the road from me) I have had 4 problems. 1st being that they don't seem to listen to instruction. On 3 occasions, I asked for EXTRA CRISPY bacon. I even make sure that they understood. One waitress did not write it down, I asked her 4 times during the order if she got that instruction, she "assured me" she had it "covered" My bacon came back as limp as an wet noodle!!!! I asked the manager why this happened. She told me that the cook did not have specific instruction to do so (TRANSLATION: waitress did not write it down!!!!!) Once I called in an order, when I got there, there were only 3 tables occupied but NO ONE seemed to have any idea about my order. They tried to accuse me of not calling the right location - Finally, some waitstaff on smoke break - came in and said OH YEAH - I forgot to put that order in. They charged me full price for my order - no one even offered me any discount, or coupon or even a free drink while I waited! I believe it is due to poor management (being a manger myself) but I can only call attention to it not fix it. Most people leave mildly satisfied and I continue to patron because it is convienient but I wanted my concerns posted for you to be aware and not necessarily expect top notch service. I guess it's what I get for being LAZY!!!!!!!
BTW... Today - I tried to call an order in - the phone has been busy for about 1 hour. will follow up ... To Be Continued........
