I've been passing by this place and eating in other Caldwell restaurants for the last couple of years. From the outside, it looks unlikely but you know what they say about not judging a book by its cover. Dropped in today and couldn't believe what I've been missing.
The ribs just fell off the bone. The gristles nearly melted in my mouth, they were so well done. They weren't over-seasoned; didn't need the sauce but tasted some anyway. The briket was succulent. The slaw and potato salad were a cut above standard BBQ joint fare.
It's not any cheaper to eat here than at other places but a 2-meat plate left me with brisket and ribs to take home.
If I have any complaint it is that the beans were a little too salty. So be it. Some people like them that way and it certainly didn't take away from the wonderful food, otherwise
Rustic just the way a great bbq joint should be. Don't stop here if you like the fluff. The only thing served here is great bbq. The ribs are meaty and the brisket is sweet. No wonder there are cook-off championship plaques on the wall. This is real Texas bbq.
