My family and I had longed to visit this very popular BBQ joint, but I have to say that we too were very disappointed. We listened to all the hype and watched the Triple D episode and thought that this place must be the real deal. I think that the quality of food and service must have been sacrificed to meet the demand that hit after the show. The place is so overpriced and the meat is very dry. Not to mention the eating area. What filth! I could have found a better way to spend $40+ dollars on a much better meal. Oh and I forgot to mention the $2.00 bottle of soda pop. What a joke. I will never, ever, ever go back to this rip-off joint again.
I have been going to Texas Pride since it opened many years ago. I took my family of 5 there today and we purchased the family order #2 as well as some sausage and a couple of sodas. We brought the food home and could hardly wait to dig in. Turns out we were very disappointed, especially with the brisket. I used to brag to others about how great their brisket was, but today it was tough and had little taste. More like a bad roast beef. The pasta salad, which is also usually great, was bland and had little taste. The beans were almost all juice and little beans.
I have not eaten there in a few months, and I noticed they have changed the interior of the store and there were a lot of new faces behind the counter. I also noticed all the posters of Guy on the walls. Hopefully their new fame from the food network has not gone to their heads, because, for the first time ever, the food was barely worth eating. The meal included 2 lbs of bland, tough, no taste brisket, 1 quart beans (mostly juice), and 1 quart cold salad (we chose the pasta). We added 2 links of sausage (these are the short links) and two sodas. Our bill was more than $47. I also noticed three tip jars at the register. Not sure why I should be tipping. Needless to say, I won't be spending that much money next time. I will give them another try, but make sure I sample the brisket first. By the way, most of the food is in the fridge.
This place has a nice old fashion atmosphere however the food is definitely not worth the price. The brisket is actually dry, as the chicken. The ribs were comparative to any other BBQ place that serves ribs. The food is definitely over priced and over rated. The employees are definitely rude and not helpful in directing you were to go in line if you've never been there before. You can get much more for your money at Bill Millers, however I prefer Salt Lick as my Number 1 choice BBQ in Texas. If you havent been anywhere for BBQ then you would probably think it was good but My wife and I travel all over Texas on the weekends to get out with our children and try different restaurants that we hear about and I must say next time I'll go to Bill Millers before I ever step foot in this place. Worst $100 I ever wasted!!! Whoever owns this place needs to really read these reviews and realize that this place has a lot of potential but they need to get someone that cares to run it for them!!! SAD SAD SAD!!!
