poor workmanship, dishonor warranty, poor cus. svc: On spetember 30, 2004, we purchased gutters for our home included was a five year workmanship warranty. About the second week in January 2007 a large portion of downspout fell off of our home. It was located on an area of the house (right rear) that gets the least amount of wind. four Seasons was called on 16 January. They were called several more times (January 18, 25, February 14, March 1). I either got an answering machine or "I'll call you back". when I finally got service, I told them explicitly that I wanted to be home when they replaced the downspout. They were scheduled to come after 9 A.M. on I believe, March 1. However when they came (it ended up not being that day) they came when I was at work. My husband was coming home while they were there. The worker put up the old downspout by piecing together small parts. In th process he damaged the corners where the gutters met at the roofline causing both back corners to leak when it rained (we didn't see this of course until it rained). The worker did a very poor job joining three pieces together instead of what was originally up there, one long downspout. I called the cmpany agin on 5,6 16 March. Finally a man named jimmy came out and resealed the corners and said "will tell Dereck about d/s rr pieced together." I called 23 March and was told that they were checking into it. I waited all of April for an answer and recieved nothing. I then called 11 May and was told that I would receive a call back that day with regard to the issue. No call back. I then called 21 May and was told that this was not covered by my warranty because they now considered it an act of God caused by the wind. i strongly disagree. 1) this area of the house is more protected from the wind as there is a boxed out window next to it. 2) the corner of the house that receives a great deal of wind is fine. 3) if this was consdered an act of God why did they not deem it as such from the beginning. why were reparimen sent out to fix the problem. 4) the first man that came out pieced together the downspout. There are now three pieces where there originally was one. It is very poorly and improperly repaired. This downspout was not put up properly from the beginning, if it had been it would have stayed up like the ones that are directly located where there is a large wind flow. There is an "act of God" clause in the warranty, however, this was a defect in workmanship in that it was not mounted properly to the house. I would also like to note that no other area of the gutters were affected by this wind that the company says caused this damage. when my husband and i were approached, in 2004, by the young man that was the sales rep for this company we were very impressed with him. He was a vet and was a good salesman. We considered this company above others that we investigaed (and were less costly) because it was represented as a company that did a good job. However we now know that not only is some workmanshp of poor quality, does not honor its warranties, but it also has very poor customer service. After waiting since January only to be told five months later that the repair work would not be done is extremely poor customer service on the part of four seasons. it seems strange that four seasons started the repair work, even sending out men to work on the job (and not finish), and then after five months decide that the problem is "an act of God" I absolutely do not recommend this business to anyone.
