Dear Sir, We live in Somerset, Texas and had four family members from Albuquerque, four from Wyoming, three from Lytle and three from Roundrock, Texas and took all of them to Schlitterbahn for the day July 8, 2009. We had the time of our lives!!I hear from the families that the kids are still talking about the rides! The last time we were there was 15 years ago and I want to say you have done a bang up job with improvements!! Finding a place for a picnic was easy and lots of shade. I have one question; is there a way we can view the pictures taken by the photographers? In all the confusion of kids returning home, we can't find our wrist bands. We left as the park was closing. But keep up the great work. We also felt very safe with our lunches, towels, lotions, etc. Everyone can't wait to return. In fact, the family in Lytle and Roundrock are returning in August. Great Job!
Just returned from our first visit. This park definitely has the best water rides in any park I've seen. The tube chutes mimic whitewater rafting. However, lines ARE very long. Think Disney in the summer. We waited an hour for one of the newer rides and skipped the rest of the new rides that had even longer lines. People waited at least 2 hours for the most popular rides. Every ride (excepting the pools of course) had lines, generally 25-30 minutes. Because of the long lines, we weren't able to get through much of the park.
Perhaps I am spoiled because we have season passes to our local, but smaller, Pittsburgh waterpark (Sandcastle) where lines are almost never longer than 10 minutes.
At Schlitterbahn, families can bring coolers. Food sold at the park is reasonably prices but limited. Trees are plentiful and provide shade during those 100 degree Texas days. While the Comal River was closed for tubing when we visited, the rides were still operated with the cool river water. Parking is free. Lounge chairs get taken early (esp. in the East section) but you can usually find a picnic table.
I would definitely return if I knew when the "off season" was so that I could enjoy the parks without lines.
A Must See!!!: You don't have to wait in line like you do at Six Flags. There's a great variety of rides and water, water everywhere! You can take your picnic in with you, find a picnic table and go have a blast. We go every year & it's worth every penny!
