If you are in the mood for something different but a little familiar, Simi's is the place to go. The restaurant overcomes its strip-mall location with a truly elegant setting. A rich red carpet leads to cinnamon-colored booths and chairs around white-clad tables. Traditional Indian music plays softly in the background as waiters move quietly in and out of the kitchen. As with most restaurants that serve Indian cuisine, Simi's offers several selections prepared in an authentic tandoor oven. Try the Tandoori Shrimp or Tandoori Snapper. A lunch buffet lets you sample a few of the more popular dishes, and at night, you can choose from several combination dishes. The small bar pours a decent selection of beer and wine.

We (I and my husband) have never tasted their buffet food but the entrees that we order as vegetarians were almost always good. Specially Tandoori roti and Dal tadka. Not to forget their Ras-Malai !! We just love that.
We did not have any problem with any credit card frauds but yes lately the Lady at the counter has started adding cost of the rice (which is supposed to come with any entree). She just tries to add some $$$ to round off the bill to the closest multiple of 5. If they could be genuine in billing too, their food beats other restaurants in San Antonio (Mela is also good but a little expensive).
If you visit Simis India Cuisine Please be careful to use your credit card.
Did I tell you about the time I found a fraudulent credit card charge on my statement?
So I open up my American Express bill and look over the charges. (You do check your credit card charges donât you?) I glance through the charges and I notice the restaurant bill for a dinner @ SIMIâs we had was more than what I remember. I went through my receipts for the month and pulled out the restaurant receipt. Sure enough the charge on my statement was $80 more than the charge on my receipt
I have eaten at plenty of Indian restaurants both in India and many other places in the world. This place by far is the worst one EVER. The positive ratings are clearly by the people who are associated with the restaurant in some manner. We intended to have a full dinner with appetizer, entree and dessert. However, when the soup came, it was a warmed up canned soup. The manager even said if the soup tastes bad then we can add some black pepper to it and pointed at the pepper shaker. The seekh kabob I ordered were frozen Swedish meatballs with neither the quality of seekh or kabob to it.
My bf ordered chicken tikka masala which was just a reheated frozen dish. Whoever says that the CTM was to die for either never had real chicken tikka masala or they are being deceptive. The mango lassi was just a boxed Mango Fruti which game in a wine glass which was three-quarters filled with ice. Three sips and your mango lassi is gone for the mere price of $2.95.
By the time I took one bite of the Swedish meatball delicacy which was supposed to seekh kabobs, I realized that my stomach started to curse me for putting such offensive food in it. When we wanted the check, almost every food item we ordered were on the table with maybe one or two bites eaten. Neither the owner nor the manager came and asked if everything was ok. we didn't even want to box such awful food. When the bill came I found out that they had over charged us for some items. When we asked our waiter to bring an accurate bill he came back and tried to explain something in some language which wasn't English. I have nothing against people whose first language is not English. However, they do not make the best negotiator of incorrect bills when they cannot communicate. The manager came and yelled at us and told us that we should just subtract the difference from the total instead of giving us an accurate bill. The force you to pay a 15% tip because I suspect they won't be tipped otherwise. Please stay away.
