| About: | Don't let the name fool you, as Karam's offers some of the best Mexican food in town. Cheery yellow tables and red chairs are complemented by pinatas hanging from the ceiling, and an authentic Mexican trio plays music on Friday and Saturday nights. If you discovered Karam's long enough ago, you may have heard Selena (yes, that Selena) and the Dinos perform here live. After dinner, walk off the enchiladas, puffy tacos and margaritas among the Mayan "ruins" in the back. Be sure to throw a penny in the fountain and make a wish that they never change the cheese nachos recipe. |

User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsUnfortunately, Karams closed its restaurant sometime in 2008. It sold out to Walgreens drug store. The Karmas Restaurant building was torn down, and now, only the memories remain. I used to live just 4 blocks from this place. I remember when I was a young kid, just starting to make money with summer jobs. I couldn't wait to get paid, so that I could go buy the Karma's Special Plate and a Guagmole Salad. I'm really going to miss this place. The food was so good.

User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsone of a few: as a native San Antonian I remember what Mexican food was like before the outside influences of the Californian and Northern tastes changed it. This is one of a few original Mexican restaurants left in SA with that Taste. And when I visit San Antonio It is one of my favorite to visit. Thank -you Karam Family for 60 years of absolutely wonderful Mexican food.
