this years "good time": we have for several years camped early May at KL RANCH. in response to the review from Linda Whitten, about no phone or reply . I surely beg to differ.
first via phone then e mail, I was assisted with the identification of the site we had last year and provided dates it was available this spring. after a family gathering, my reservation was accepted for our "favorite spot" and we are all looking forward to going very soon...............this is one of the most relaxing times for me. I have camped at K&L since 1970's but now as NANA, the work is done by others I just chill out and enjoy the beautiful river, scenery and my family........................

Happy Campers: My husband and I have camped at KL Ranch Camp for the last five years and we always have a good time. The business is family owned and their campground is family oriented. We rebook every year in advance, so we have the same site. Sometimes during the busy season (June - August) they can be hard to reach by phone, but If you send them a fax or an email, someone will answer you promptly. They have a camp store with decent prices available if you left something at home, tube rentals, showers, and security on duty every night! We will be returning this June for our 6th year and are looking forward to it!
Extremely hard to contact by phone!: K & L is a wonderful place for camping. It took 2 weeks to confirm reservations due to a busy line. We paid 1 year in advance to reserve 3 spots. They also will not return calls IF you are lucky enough to get voice mail. No e-mail or fax is available either........

I made reservations at this campground only because I was trying to find one close to Gruene. I was not going to go on the river, I was going to visit Gruene Dance Hall for the concert Saturday night & the Sunday Brunch. I did not know the area well, but when I made the reservation I was not told they locked the gates at midnight. Since, I had drove about 500 miles to do this I was not going to leave the concert early. All parks we have stayed in always gave guest codes to get in if they were late coming in. So, after paying this one I had to go down the road at 1AM & pay the next one $45 to stay for about 9 hours. The RV Parks were the only bad experience we had on our trip. Gruene is a great town to visit & the Dance Hall is worth every penny.
