User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI'm 82, and I have loved Jacala for 50 years! My son lives in San Francisco, and when he comes to visit, he ALWAYS has to go to Jacala! He says Frisco doesn't have any authentic Mexican food. If you read some of the OLDER reviews, you will find more 5 star ratings. It seems to be the latest reviews that start to go downhill.
As for the food, my son always orders a variety platter & a Bohemia, but I cannot speak for anything on their menu except the guacamole puffy tacos, since that is the ONLY thing I ever order when I go there. They're sensational !! ( I always ask them to leave off the shredded lettuce.)
It's also true that the waitstaff is not very consistent. Sometimes good, sometimes not, but I've never had to wait for a table, and while they prepare your order, you'll munch on a basket of the BEST tostadas & salsa ever! Their prices will always leave your wallet happy....You can't beat them on that.-

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. It is not pretentious, sort of a hole in the wall feeling, but the food is excellent. try the enchiladas, they're great. You get corn tortillas with meals, so if you want flour you need to ask. Top shelf margaritas are the best. Get in Miguel's section, he is a courteous waiter and will go out of his way to make sure you are happy with your meal.

Jacala is great when they are on the ball. I have gone many times over the years. They were my favorite Mexican restuarant but I am now looking for a new favorite. The service fell off even at non peak times. That was the big factor for my friends and I. During the meal my drink was never refilled once, even after I asked. The food was very good and I recommend the mole enchiladas. If you are ordering to-go keep the order small and simple. I have ordered a dozen times and have only received a correct order once. When I call to mention it the person on the other end of the line tries to take a parent/teacher approach and ask if I ordered wrong. They then take my name and number and offer to fix it on my next visit and when I'd return they would have no knowledge and act like I was trying to pull a fast one on them. I have not gone there in a year and still have not found another favorite place. They did have a box fan drive recently which was good for the community but still.
