| About: | This casually upscale seafood restaurant got its start in Corpus Christi, but is right at home in trendy Alamo Heights. The building is large and spacious, with colorful murals of sea life gracing the interior walls. The tables aren't too close together, but aren't so far apart that you can't innocently eavesdrop on the other diners. The menu offers a tasty selection of mostly seafood items that you can order blackened, mesquite grilled, sauteed, broiled and, of course, fried. Try the shrimp enchiladas, the Chicken Rockefeller or the southern-fried catfish. Happy hour starts at 4:30pm Monday-Friday and features discounted drinks as well as raw oysters for a quarter. |

the food is amazing and the service is good. the happy hour is incredible and on thursdays they have live music. the management is not good, in fact i have been there numerous times and a manager has never visited my table. im of course not going to let that stop me from going back but it was disappointing.
It had been many years since we'd been there and it will be even longer before we go back.
It started with a clueless host seating people in what seemed to be a random order.
Next came our waiter - a very nice person, but he seemed to spend more time waiting in front of the serving counter than actually waiting on tables.
Then came the Caesar salad - without Caesar salad dressing (note to Water Street - that's called lettuce). The cook insisted she'd put the dressing on, but the waiter kindly brought some.
I had ordered an appetizer, but it was served with the main course. My mistake must have been saying "I'll start with ..." instead of "Bring this first."
They took good shrimp and overcooked them and they had what amounted to the strangest dill sauce I'd ever seen for the salmon. (It looked and tasted more like cream gravy with a bit of dill in it). What was really puzzling was the broccoli served on the side; it looked like it lost a battle with a food processor.
The staff was pleasant (although it was annoying to have another waiter constantly barking orders to the kitchen and other waiters over our table) and the ingredients were fresh, but everyone seemed to be just going through the motions. This is all a sign of a very poorly managed restaurant.
Save some money (and time) and go to one of the Sea Island establishments in San Antonio. The food is simpler, but is much better prepared.
Best seafood in SA...gotta try the gumbo..yum...............
