I purchased a used Honda certified Pilot 2003 model in 2004. This vehicle had some major and minor repairs done at their place, which we strongly believe their ceitified program is just a piece of junk and they didn't really check anything but trying to get rid of their inventory at the time of sales event.
Anyway, my last encouter with the service department really made me write this review. They couldn't locate my information in their system. The manager even had a nerve to ask me if I really purchased the car there, hello? Look at the number plate with your Benson Honda on the top cover and I had a copy of my previous service receipt, in a pouch provided by them.
Then he said I am not covered by the warranty because of high mileage. When I purchsed this car, it already had close to 60K registered. So, I purchased the extended warranty and they should have that information there. Nope! He did make a phone call to one warranty company they use but they couldn't locate my vehicle information.
So what? His recommendation was for me to go to the finance department and see if they can locate my purchase record through their system. Okay, so I went to the next building, waited there for nearly 20 minutes and still no one showed up. Finally, I asked the operator why the long wait. Then he made a quick phone call and told me that the only finance person available is tied up with another customer and it would be another 30 minute. I left.
I came home and found my warranty information and even called the company to verify my coverage. Yes, indeed, I am covered. I wasn't sure if I was going to go back to Benson, so I called other dealerships and asked their service departments. When I called the manager back, he was busy. So I called him again little later, his voice maile came on automatically. I called him for the last time and his associate told me he is busy and put me on his voice mail again. Fine, I told him he was fired.
I will never ever go back to this dealership ever again. For one thing, their service is always so slow and a simply oil change takes more than a hour sometimes up to two hours. That's the reason why I stopped using you guys for minor maintenance.
Whether my last visit was two years ago or two months ago, it doesn't matter. If I showed a proof that I purchased it there, then why can't you help me instead of giving me run abouts? I already made an appointment with Gunn Honda for the same service with rental car arrangement.
My recoomendation for anyone who reads this: Don't buy anything from them. Honda is great but their service department sucks and their service only extends to those new clients who bought brand-new car with no problems. There is no excuse for extended wait time, which there were few other customers waiting for their paperwork done or waiting for the shuttle. Obviously, they are not organized or no one sems to know what the heck is going on but Rob, who is too busy to answer his phone, then don't give me your business card. What's the point? Why I don't recommend? You tell me why.
My family has bought 6 cars from this dealership over the last 10 years, and never had any major problems for them to take care of. I recently purchased a car there for the first time and love it.
One PROBLEM... one of my tires went flat and they didn't include in the sale the key for my locking lug nuts. I couldn't change the tire and had to wait in 92+ heat for a wrecker for 2 hours to have it towed to my house.
When I went to Benson Honda to get the key so I could remove the tire and fix my car they flatly told me it was not something they could help me with and that I would need to have it towed somewhere so that it could be removed by force. A very expensive option.
I called back and spoke to the used car sales manager and he wouldn't help me, I called the GM and no-one answered.
After 10 years of dedicated patron ship of Benson Honda I thought that I had earned some sort of relationship with this dealership. Frankly I'm outraged, and disgusted at my treatment, and will never purchase from them again.
This past weekend, My husband and I purchased a Honda Element from Benson Honda. We were very satisified with the service and the staff was very friendly. Our purchase was done fairly, with no pressure and we were in and out quickly. I give them two-thumbs up!! Highly recommended!
