SUBJECT: Extremely Disappointed
On 13 Nov 09, I visited Universal Toyota at 12102 IH35 North, San Antonio, TX 78233, Tel: 210-967-2190 and would like to express my deep disappointment with that particular visit. During a routine oil change I was advised that my timing cover was leaking oil. The Service Advisor, Benjamin Guffey was extremely helpful and thought the vehicle was under warranty and they will be able to fix the problem. He then spoke with the Service Manager, Bud King who declined to fix the problem which I was advised would cost me over $1,000.00 to fix.
I purchased this 2005 model at the end of 2004 and currently it has less then 41,000 miles. The warranty speculates this type of work would be covered up to 60,000 miles or 5 years. Once again, Benjamin Guffey told me that time-wise I missed the warranty coverage by one week. I was told that if I had came into the dealership the previous week they would fix this problem. Once again the Service Manager, Bud King declined to fix it based on warranty passing by only one week.
The reason Iâm so extremely angry is that this problem was not detected earlier when the vehicle was serviced at Universal Toyota in San Antonio. Since, I purchased this particular vehicle I deployed to Iraq twice and sacrificed more then the average American can image. I missed the birth of my child and was almost killed in action on several occasions serving America in combat zone. And to think that Universal Toyota could not fix the problem with the vehicle for me is absolutely mind boggling and extremely disappointing. The vehicle still has less then 60,000 miles and time wise only a week from warranty expiration.
Consider the following which makes me extremely angry. Just a week ago I watched Discovery Channel and they were showing lifestyles of some rich race car driver. They showed off his multi-million dollar mansion, boat and numerous cars he had in his garage. At some point he pointed to extremely expensive âToyotaâ vehicle and said âthis car was given to me by Toyota.â Given to him by Toyota! Toyota gave him that expensive car for free, for nothing. This individual is a multi-millionaire and never seen any combat in his lifetime and lives in luxury... and Toyota gave him a free car.
I have sacrificed so much serving in armed forces for over 20 years. Been in combat in Somalia, Operation Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and two more deployments to Iraq in 2005 and 2008. Not to mention hardship of leaving my pregnant wife to go to Iraq and missing the birth of my first child. And to think that you could not fix my car because my warranty expired just by only one week is extremely painful. GOD BLESS AMERICA! And Toyota just lost a customer. This was my 4th Toyota and I will never consider buying another Toyota vehicle. Thank you for your time and Happy Veteran's Day.
I went last week to buy a used car at Toyota, I came across a few problems, I was unable to get the car I wanted because I was upside down on my car when I traded it in which in that case the bank would not give me the loan I needed on the car I wanted. Well Joe gave me ALOT more money then any other dealership did.Joe the General Manager did EVERYTHING I mean EVERYTHING possible to get me into the car I wanted. I walked out with a beautiful loaded 4 door Toyota Camry, awesome interest on my loan, and yet an EXTREMELY STATISFIED customer. If you are looking for a car sales men DAVID MOLINA AKA HELLO should be the car salesmen you should speak with he cares about what YOU want as a customer. Never have I been to a dealership who cares about who I am as a person rather then just a commission check. I did read previous reviews on the dealership and let me tell you my service came no where near to what was said in those reviews. If you are looking for a used cared Universal Toyota is the place you want to go and dont forget to speak with DAVID MOLINA AKA HELLO.
This is BY FAR the worst dealership EVER. We went to trade in our two door for a four door. They let us take home the car thinking that it was in the bag, that we needed to go back in a few days to finalize all the paperwork. Then they called us FOUR days later telling us that our credit didn't pass and for us to either throw money down or find a co-signer. Well we went back and fourth for the rest of the week untill finally I got tired of it and decided to just take the car back.
Well..we went only to find that our car was on the lot FOR SALE! Not only was our car for sale but they chipped our paint off our rear view mirrors, they made a HUGE deep gash on the side of our car..they took off our Registration stickers and license plates they PRESSURE washed the front of our car and scratched up our headlights. When we confronted the manager "JOE GARZA" he denied that he even did anything to our car that he just parked it on the lot and put the sale papers on it..RIGHT! We drove 3 hours to get there and there were dead butterflies all over our car when we first took it in..and they were gone not only that it had a "Wash Tub" sticker on it and they don't have that where we live..he kept denying and denying that they touched our car.
Needless to say, I told him the LEAST he could do was give us touch up paint for the mirrors and he did..but sent someone else to give it to us. They wouldn't pay to replace our stickers or our plates saying that they "needed a receipt" in order to refund us the costs! they didn't do anything about the big gash on the car either..
