Worth every cent.....: I have been with San Antonio Pop Warner for 13 years for a team in the Westside, Holy Cross Eagles, formally Holy Family Eagles. The experience that my children have had, 4 children, has been rewarding, they have learned what it is to be a team member. They have also learned that you need to work hard and give it your all in everything you do. 3 of my children are grown and 1 has children who are now part of the Eagles, I still have one child there. I read a recent comment regarding Pop Warner and it was very negative. This person must not have volunteered much, when you get involved you are better capable of see what is going on. As with every type of club, organization, sport, even school PTA there might be a bad apple, but when you start to focus on why you are part of whatever group you belong to and get involved you will realize that every cent spent on your child and every child that belong to the organization is worth it. Through the learning experience that my children had/have with Pop Warner they were able to learn how to be responsible, make good grades in school ( a requirement with Pop Warner), make life-long friends, earn scholarships and most of all have fun.
So thank you San Antonio Pop Warner for the experiences you have brought to my children, myself, and even my family. To all SA Pop Warner Board Members, Coaches, and Volunteers KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
NOT A GREAT ORGANIZATION: My children participated in this organization for four seasons and it is not all they are cracked up to be. The different teams and their officers are all the same. The coaching staff are all inexperience and childish parent volunteers, who almost always favor their own child. The coaches don't like you to call them on it and they bad mouth children that aren't up to their standings. In one team the officers are all relatives and protect each other whether right or wrong.
I was part of an organization that was in the West Side and we had a fundraiser for our girls to go to disney. We'll we wound up raising 1,000. And all the parents were in agreement that only the girls(12) that volunteered and donated would benefit. We'll when my daughter wound up making it to nationals all she received was $27.00. When I asked the treasurer, who was the coach's sister, what happened, she told me that I was only getting that because the squad paid for extra things. And when I asked her for a receipt all she would say "We are a non profit organization and we don't get receipts." I went to the president of the organization and she refused to help me. I later found out that each girl whether they participated or not in the fundraiser received $237.00.
I strongly recommend that you do not get involved in this organization because all of the different teams are all the same. I know I was in two and they were both the same. Save your money. That's all they are after. This organization is not what it used to be since they divided it up into three sections. There is no competition in San Antonio.
