Managers need customer service training: The Bennigens we visted was on 2885 Cinema Rdg in San Antonio, TX. I had been in last week to celebrate my birthday 10/29/06 and we had a wonderful time. Price was great, food was delicious and service was outstanding. I decided to take my husband for his birthday this past weekend - 11/05/06, 8 PM. This time, the food was delicious, atmosphere outstanding, but the service was poor. Our waitress did not seem enthused about her job and waited on us as if we were bothering her. We had ordered an appetizer which consisted of Potato Skins and Boneless Buffalo Wings. I was not too hungry so I ordered the Boneless Buffalo Wings as my meal. My Boneless Buffalo Wings seemed spicer than the appetizer in which I almost choked on how hot they were. I proceeded to eat a couple in which I finally stated to my family that these wings were too hot (spicy) and did not taste like our appetizer. About this time the manager came around and asked if we were enjoying our meals in which my mother asked him if the Boneless Buffalo Wings are supposed to be too spicy to eat. The manager stated that the reason why they are called Hot Wings is because of the sauce they use and yes they are supposed to be hot. I informed him at that time that we had ordered the appetizer with the same item in which they we not even close to being this hot. The manager preceded to state that the hot wings and the boneless wings are cooked differently and that we could have ordered them without the sauce. I stated to him that that option was never presented to me and if the appetizers were cooked any differently since we had ordered the same exact item. The manager explained to me again as if I were a child about how the batter is different with Hot Wings and Boneless Buffalo Wings all the while looking around the restaurant and not giving me his full attention. I decided at that point that the manager was not listening to what was being explained and I stopped talking. My father thanked him and the manager left. I preceded to peel the skin off my Boneless Buffalo Wings so that I may attempt to enjoy the meal thereafter. The manager and our waitress passed our table every time they needed to go into the kitchen or the computer monitor and at no time did they offer any service and did not care that I was not enjoying my meal. The manager set the tone for the rest of our evening that night and future evenings if we decide to go back to Bennigens. Do not ask your customers if they are Enjoying their meal if you do not really care if they are or not!
The best for Spurs game, karaoke, and great food.: Well, Ive been there too many times, and each time its great! Ive enjoyed plenty of dishes, from the baked potato soup, the Monte Cristo, and the sampler (try the southwest eggrolls and baked potatoe skins). The food is always good, and very fast and friendly service (Kassandra with a K is super cool). The drinks are pretty good but vary from bartender. A little more consistency would be great, as the margaritas have been different on a few occasions.
The night atmosphere is really great; they have Karaoke, Spurs games, drink specials, all that on certain nights. Ive been to all of them and can say I had a blast each time. Ive been to this location several times and havent been disappointed at all. I would recommend it for everything, except children. I havent seen any kids there when Ive gone, unlike other restaurants in that area. In fact, that reminds me of the only thing that has been of concern, that being the cigarrete odor that sometimes lingered (happened twice, and Ive been there several times). Otherwise, Bennigan's is always a good bet.
