Worst place in Corpus. The manager is rude and disrepectful. I wouldn't try that place again even if they paid me. That manager should learn some manners and also they need to learn how to cook steaks. I asked for mine medium rare and they burned it. I complain to the waitress and she took it back and it was the same steak except all they did was turn the steak on the other side where it was not burned. I complain again and told them it was the same burned steak she said it wasn't and I told her yes it was because it was missing the small piece where I had cut and tried to eat anyway. I complain to the manager and he cuss me out. I almost call the police because he was rude and use the F word on us.
You get a lot of food for not a lot of money.
I have been there on Sundays during the church crowd and was served promptly.
I also go quite a bit for lunch (even though, I go a bit late in the afternoon) and have had no problems!
They need to hire more waiters. Many restaurants are always packed, but know to have enough staff on hand to still give attentive service to everyone. Or maybe there was enough staff and they just need to be trained better. However that wasn't really a big issue.
This place may have great steaks and seafood. I wouldn't know. Some other reviewer up there said the food tasted home-cooked. Another noted the great variety on the menu. Sadly home-cooked and authentic doesn't really describe their hamburgers.
At every restaurant that doesn't specialize in a specific ethnic food type (chinese, greek, mexican, italian, etc.) I'll eat a hamburger. I leave it to the other people at my table to be adventurous.
I can honestly say that I've had better burgers at McDonald's, Burger King, and Whataburger. I've you think I'm being outrageous, well it maybe be a bit more believable when I say I've had better burgers at Bubba's, Chili's, Friday's, and Texas Roadhouse to name a few.
I'm not telling you to not eat there. Just, I don't think you'll like the hamburgers. The tastiest thing about the burger was the red onions. Though the fries were good. So maybe the hamburger just isn't their thing.
I feel like I'm rambling, but perhaps I should go back and say exactly why I didn't like the taste of the hamburger.
It had no taste (except for the onions). The patty was too uniform. Even if they didn't hand form the patties like some other restaurants, it seems like whatever cooking method they used, just brought the meat to an edible, cooked state. Whereas some restaurants will take a frozen pre-shaped patty and grill or pan-fry or broil it and that process will bring out the texture and juicy-ness of the patty,... I don't know how U&I cooks they're burgers.
Bottom line: Unless you want to spend $6 on an experiment you may not be able to enjoy. Choose something else on the menu.
