You'd expect a location filled with nearly a century of history and smoke stains on the building to have the same feel and flavor generations of us remember. Back in those days the basic staples were market sausage, brisket, shoulder, and chops. With an a/c cooled room waiting for you at the end of line with longnecks and simple fixin's like cheese and onions and giant pickles for the kids.
That building remains but the traditions and flavors left down the street with the original pitmasters to Kreutzs with an honorable mention to Chisolm Trail and a value as well.
You will find the standard fare of old here but the attention to detail in the simplicity and dedication to the star of the show the Q gone, and room made for lesser things like side dishes and modern fixtures like forks and such and the unthinkable SAUCE available to cover what should be a pitmasters perfection not his mom's pasta salad or the like.
This isn't on the level of Bill Miller, but for the uninitiated and unfamiliar this would seem above average which is what most out of town folk can appreciate. So if you are from Minnesota you're in for a treat, if your from Texas well I guess you'll be somewhat dissapointed.
Nothing wrong with Smitty's other then Kruez's is better. I have had dry meat before. All in all very good. This is the original Kreuz location.
At this time i think Smitty's is the best in town!!!
