one of my favorite places is freehouse on 6th street. seems like they always have something fun going on. its just a great place to go hang on the decks, surf the net and people watch. ive eaten there a few times but i visit for the many variety of different beers they have.
The food is very good and the "sun dried tomatoe Bloody Mary" is excellent. Prices are fair.
Dropped in on a Sunday evening, to use the wi-fi and get a drink. I ordered the nachos, and thank goodness they are a pile of chips and cheese and refried beans, like they should be, and not those gawdawful little chips, neatly arranged on a plate. OK, but since all the waitresses are running around in "keep austin weird" t-shirts, then please, let's put jalapenos on nachos, when they are broiled, and let the wussies ask for them to be held off on the side, not the other way around.
Like another reviewer said, the staff is really friendly and attentive.
Oh, let me add one more thing. I asked the bartender what was on special, since its just sunday evening, not wall to wall friday. He tole me about house drinks being reduced. I asked for whisky and 7, and was very careful not to "call" a 7 and 7, or anything else. When I got the bill, he wrote them in as "jack daniels" and charged full price!!! What a rip-off. Always watch these guys, or go somewhere else.
