| About: | The Moonshine Grill sits in the oldest building in Austin and the decor tastefully reflects the same. The sweeping arches and exquisite mirrors on the brick and stone walls, not to mention the warm fire place all make for a cozy setting. The starters everyones raves about are the 'Corn Dog' Shrimp (skewered shrimp in cornmeal batter, served with honey and blueberry mustard). The choice entrees are the broiled rainbow trout and Texas flat iron steak. Behind the main restaurant is a refurbished carriage converted into a bar, making the the Moonshine Grill an ideal setting, no matter what the occasion. |

A friend took me here for dinner one night, bragging that he had recently had the "best" steak he had ever had and that I had to try it. I am a Texan, I have evjoyed many a steak in my life, I enjoyed one of the best steaks here that i have ever had. The food was absolutely delicious and I will return many times, I just hope I never have to experience the rudeness from waitresses and hosteses that others seem to be experiencing.
My friends and I went during brunch on a Sunday. We arrived at 9:40 am and there were people already waiting outside. TIP: THERE IS A HOSTESS THAT WALKS AROUND WITH A WAITING LIST. Nobody told us and the hostess must have taken a break because we never saw her. It wasn't until a kind girl told us that there is a list made before opening. Anyway, once inside the food is good. Our group had a bit of everything including pancakes, many egg casseroles, sausage, biscuits, chicken fingers, and fruit. It was a bit crazy because there were alot of people in line and several lines. Also, I had to return twice to the buffet because they were out of several items I wanted. Especially the pancakes! They should bring out more than 12 mini pancakes to a buffet line with tons of people waiting and most grabbing at least 2 to 3 of them. I would return if I stayed in downtown Austin because it was convenient.
