I enrolled my baby when she was 8 months old because her sitter was having medical problems and I expected her to do well but instead she constantly got sick. For 3 months straight from the time she started at Second Step, I had to constantly take my baby to the doctor's at least every other week if not more and she was always on antibiotics. I was missing too much work that my boss finally had to talk to me and I had to take the doctor's advice about taking her out of this facility and putting her back with a private sitter. The sad thing about this is that even though I had a certified doctor's note that she wanted me to remove the baby from this facility ASAP, I still had to give Wanda 30 days notice and pay whether she came or not. Now being a single mother of two, that is very difficult to do especially with having to pay the new sitter on top of that as well. Wanda wasn't willing to give me a break on the 30 day policy rule even though I had taken my business back to her after my oldest daughter had attended there for many years. She is not a compassionate woman at all and that's because she has a child of her own. Wanda is so money hungry that it's sad. She wants her money no matter what the cost is. Because of her health, I had to remove my baby from that facility especially since she was always getting sick there, and I couldn't afford to lose my job since that is my only source of income to pay the bills, car, mortgage, etc. Wanda's letting me pay her in monthly installments for the remainder of what I owe her but I had to ask her if she could work with me but to say that she offered to help me, no she didn't offer, I had to ask her. I would not recommend this place to any parent. She cares only about the money. Very, very sad! And I will definitely spread the word on this facility's lack of compassion and empathy.
Well, I had a good experience with my children at this daycare as far as their educational value, such as sign language and learning their letters and computer technology. My family was with this daycare for at least 2 years or more, we left and came back often. I have had my children at another child care facility due to the tuition being an arm and a leg. About the comment of the staff not watching the children closely, I can attest to that. My daughter was crying one time for at least an hour, they told me that she was crying that long. I asked, what happened, and they didn't know. I saw her standing by herself against a wall while she was crying. If they ever went to try and see what was wrong, they would have noticed her arm was hurting. Everytime I tried to touch her arm, she would scream and push me away from that arm. I took her to the doctor and her elbow was dislocated. This made me extremely upset. Now she has frequent dislocations due to already having one. The doctors said it happens a lot with smaller children due to their tendons being weaker than an older child's. It is called Nurse Maids elbow. This frightened me of course. I have noticed between the two daycares that I have had my children in, my children were hurt the most at Second Step. They would come home with bruises, cuts and scrapes, bite marks, etc. the answer was always, the kids fall and we can't catch everything. This is a horrible way to be actively involved with safety. If this daycare that I currenly have my child in can keep my children safe, I think so can they and they should. She threatens often with court and law suits. Don't let that get to you, you will most likely win. Too expensive for the type of care you are expecting and paying for. They may as well just be baby sitters. The only teacher I thought that was amazing is Amanda, and she works at First Step School, which is run by Wanda's sister. They are lucky to have Amanda. Research your child care centers please before going for it.
My child loves Second Step. I was suprised to see the below rating. The teachers and staff are well qualified and personable. I have never had a problem. Our experience has been great and couldnt complain.

To Quanta and Brian (if in fact this is the two of you) I was very concerned about the review I just read. When your family left my daycare, you were happy and looking for a cheaper place. We had a good relationship and loved all 4 of your children. They were with us quite some time. No one that is still working here remembers the girls getting hurt. Quanta has even returned on 3 occasions to make payments on the account. Pleas respond because this report disturbs me.
