They saved me a TON of money. One company thought I needed a whole new system. This group came out and did a great job of just fixing what was truly needed.
BTW -- I think $400 for a new controller sounds about right. Installation is always what costs the most. Always good to call around and get quotes though!
I felt I was ripped off by American Irrigation Repair. They charged me $400 to install a controller. I checked online and the controller costs less than $100. I think one should check around before calling these folks!!
Sharon,
I am sorry you felt like our pricing was high. I do not see enough information here to locate your job but there may have been other components used with the controller such as modules, pigtails or rain sensors that increased the costs. There are some internet vendors who sell product online for less that we can purchase them for locally. We normally do not buy from vendors online because they are not able to provide us local warranty support, or on site support if issues arise.
We figure our pricing based on material costs + labor costs + cost of providing service / and support + a reasonable markup to stay in business.
We try to be as upfront as possible by giving prices for all work upfront, and listing some example prices on our website.
I will continue to examine our pricing and be sure we try and keep prices as competitive as possible while still being able to afford to keep servicing our customers.
Thank you for your input.
