About:Opened in 1866, this bar has become a mecca for every Texas governor and quite a number of other people. This is Texas's oldest beer garden; it now provides an extensive menu of traditional bratwurst and sauerkraut as well as barbecue favorites. As is tradition, the bar is a favorite during, before and after the University of Texas Longhorn games. Even if there is not a game, this is still one of the best places to sit back and enjoy a cold beer.

Me, my dad and brother went to eat here before meeting some UT counselors. It was in the neighborhood and we were hungry. First off, I would like to say the waitress was awful. She didn't say one word to us and anytime I wanted anything (including silverware) I had to get up and ask for it. She pretty much threw our bill on the table and that was that. The food was average, nothing I would say anybody would have twice or brag about. The veinerschitzel tasted like my old highschools chicken fried steak and my brother said the burger was mediocore. Doesn't food taste better when your hungry? The atmosphere is neat and worth going to visit to have a beer with some buddies. Other than that DO NOT BOTHER.

Great Tailgating Spot for UT Football: Expect to find a live band in the back unless ESPN radio is running there pre-game there. If you want to sit down you better get there early on a football Saturday and plan on sharinig a big round top or a picnic table with a lot of folks wearing burnt orange.
