| About: | One of Austin's most crowded bars on the weekends. Fado pronounced (Fuh-DOH) translates to "long ago" in Celtic. The bar contains everything from Celtic designs to polished wood blocks and glass cabinets. User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsFor once I wasn't out in the capcity of a reviewer, but I couldn't let this review not be written. This was my first time in Fado. When I walked into the dimly lit room I first thought of how I hoped this wasn't another Pub without good food and personality, and I am glad to say it wasn't just another Pub. Fado, Assistant General Manager John O'Brien sat down at our table and started conversing with us as if he'd known us for years. Briefly I wondered if he knew my brother, as my not living in Texas I was sure I didn't know him. He didn't know any of us, he was just friendly and I must say that was a nice change to what some of the rest of Austin had to offer.
The food was good, not too oily, and a very good sized proportion. The wait staff was attentive without being annoying. Overall I would say if you're in Austin, living there or visiting, get over to Fado Irish Pub and Restaurant for an afternoon lunch and enjoy the food, the atmosphere, and the friendly company.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starswent to Fado to watch Liverpool v. Chelsea in Champ's Leauge Semi. I'm a Liverpool fan. There were appx 30 Liverpool fans in attendance and maybe a few more Chelsea fans than that. Met someone named Liam from Liverpool who was on holiday- he'd come the prev day to watch Man U vs. Barca and said it was standing room only. The game was AMAZING (even though LIverpool lost, which was heartbreaking) -- the atmosphere was awesome, the game was great, and the food good too! I ordered the Cheese Dip and Wedges- and it was a tasty snack. I will go back to this pub... it was a great time!
User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI love going to Fados..especially during cold seasons bc they have this awesome drink that is beer mixed with warm apple cider..Also it is a great location when live bands are there or next door.
