| About: | This club on Sixth Street is all about music. The Cantina has been providing Austin with original diverse music for years. Depending on when you stop by, you will hear everything from reggae to rock, ska to dub, and punk to metal. This is a great place to encounter local people and hear their great local music, although occasionally it can get a little hot. Plenty of beer is offered to cool you off. |

I used to be a regular at Flamingo Cantina.
One thing I love about Austin, and I was born here, is it's accepting community.
Tonight Buju Banton plays here after he was cancelled at another local venue. His song which sings about killing gay people is cruel. Even last month he says he was at war with "faggot". I think Flamingo Cantina bringing him to sing after knowing of this controversy is shameful. Austin is about PEACE not about hate. Shame on you Flamingo Cantina.
irie mon: i don't go downtown much anymore but when i do this is the place its like i stepped back into barefoot bobs in key west reggae rules!!
One of my favorite places to see great live music: No other place in Austin gives you live music like the Flamingo. And if you're lucky enough to have Winston cooking in the back for a touring show, you can enjoy some of the best Caribbean food in Austin on their patio. It's the ONLY bar on 6th street I'll even consider going to.
