| About: | Located next to Deep Eddy Pool on Lake Austin Blvd, Deep Eddy Cabaret is certainly off the beaten path for most of Austin's people. There is a strange, surreal feel here, like it has been untouched by time for years on end. You are always sure to have a memorable experience here. The regular crowd is eclectic and very friendly. There are a couple of pool tables in this intimate spot and a fabulous jukebox with old country, soul and rock music. Prices also feel out of date. Drinks (beer and wine) are incredibly inexpensive. Get a cheap pitcher of Pabst or a couple of Lone Stars and you will fit right in with the crowd. |

An authentic hole-in-the wall: A REAL bar, not a club, disco, restaurant or pick-up joint. Just a bar, pool tables, aaaaaaaaaaah.
Nothin' better: The only downside is that they don't serve liqour but the Lone Star is cheap and cold.
A dive next to a diving place: Deep Eddy Cabaret is located next to Deep Eddy Pool on Lake Austin Blvd. The door is usually open to let out the smoke, however, that may not be an issue in Austin soon. The jukebox is one of the best in town with a good variety and genres. The limited selection of draft beer is pretty cheap, but there is no liquor to be had. There are two pool tables and chalk boards to sign up for the next game. The decor includes New Orlean Saints stuff, Spuds McKenzie, and lots of cheap beer signs. The crowd is mostly in their twenties and thirties and very friendly.
