I really hope this location is better than the one off of Slaughter. My husband, son and I went and it was horrible. The only things good there are the margaritas (if at happy hour) and the salsa. The food was gross. My husband and I went outside of our normal dishes and ordered enchaladas and fajitas. Well, we shouldn't have. The rice was very greasy (I even took some home thinking that my husband might eat it if mixed in something else, and the grease soaked through the tortilla completely that was in the box along with it. Beans...bland. Fajitas, not enough for the price you pay.
All in all, I was very dissapointed in all the anticipation that we've had coming to this place. It was bad and the portions were the size of lunch portions and we went for a Friday dinner. We will definitely stick to our hole in the wall, cheap skeepo mexican food where the flavor is what you'd expect for the money. We were very dissapointed. To add to everything, there was a 45-60 minute wait.
We've been regulars there now for about 5 years. The food is good, hot and cheap! I can't remember a time when we didn't walk out of there with take home boxes. The beef fajita nachos are my favorite. Migas with chorizo are served all day. The Caldo is a huge bowl of soup that you ask yourself "where did they get these carrots?" You've never seen such large ones. The chips are always light and crispy and the salsa has just the right burn. About a year ago, they changed their margarita mix which now deserves the claim "the best margarita in town". They are potent too! This is a great place located at 1800 E. 6th (I remember the addy because it's 1800 like the tequila) right in the middle of the all the new condos and businesses being built in the neighborhood. I know it's only a matter of time before they remodel and update everything, which may be a little sad. I'm sure it will be just as fabulous, but we're glad we'll be able to say we knew it when...
You're right David, Dario's does have some great food and killer Margarita's. There is just something different about the place that I liked. I'm looking forward to going there again the next time I'm in town.
This place is the worst Mexican food I have ever had! Taco Bell is more authentic...unless you consider good Mexican food tasting bland, greasy and cold. Darios? Not if there was no other restaurant within 50 miles and it was the last day on Earth.
This dude is clueless. He has no idea what good mexican food is if he claims taco bell is authentic. I eat at Dario's every weekend and have been doing so for 15 years. If it wasn't good, I would go back so often.
