About:This theater, originally incorporated as the Austin Civic Theater, was rechristened in the 1970s to honor Zachary Scott, an Austin-reared actor with a successful film career. In 1993, the theater was recognized by its selection to participate in the National Endowment for the Arts Advancement Program. The theater has grown by building two stages, a costume shop, classroom and rehearsal studio and expanding the box office, and now hosts some of the best performances in Austin. Past productions include Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet , The Rocky Horror Show , The Flaming Idiots , and Tapestry: The Music of Carole King . The theater also offers children productions and a performing arts school for everyone.

After friends introduced us to Zach Scott with a trip to see Santaland Diaries, we were hooked! Since then we've had the pleasure to see several other performances including The Vagina Monologues. The intimacy of the theatre's atmosphere enhances anything on the stage. The performers definitely give the impression of *really* caring about the theatre and it's regular audience. They truly make the experience.

After receiving Exec Passes as a wedding gift, we recently had the true pleasure of seeing the Zach Scott Performing Arts School production of Disney's High School Musical. I expected to suffer through this as a well-intentioned parent for the sake of my daughter and her best friend for her birthday. No way!!! It was great! The energy and effort these guys put into their performance really shined through!

Bravo all around for Zach Scott and we look forward to many more great shows!

Zach Scott - Big surprise every time: In the last few months we've been lucky enough to get tickets to a couple of shows for Zach Scott. I never really thought much about going to a small theater like this before we went to the first show. I thought that it wouldn't be much to really see because of the size of the theater but boy was I really wrong! No matter how what you're feeling when you walk in all is forgotten as soon as the first person takes the stage and you're caught up in the drama that unfolds before you. Its an intimite theater with assigned seating that doesn't feels neither cramped nor like you're too far to interact with your neighbor. It always feel like we've just left a good friends house once its over- warm and like we can't wait to come back for another visit. We'll be going a lot more of the shows... SOON!
