| About: | Located in Austin's first planned suburb(Hyde Park) is Avenue B Grocery, Austin's oldest grocery store. You know how things were simple back then, when the name of your establishment was simply the street name. The grocery store stocks all your necessary items, but apart from the practical and aesthetic appeal, it has one other attraction. A big sign outside the store says 'home made sandwiches'. Tip toe across the groaning porch and call for a King sandwich. Roast beef and cheese will never taste the same again. The establishment accepts cash and debit cards. |

The store is fun to walk into...like a time warp. But beware of the mean man that owns the store. He is so very RUDE!!!!!

Avenue B Grocery & Market and Sandwich Shop: Avenue B is the oldest grocery store in Austin. It was featured in a Dr. Pepper advertisement with Garth Brooks. They have some of the best fresh made sandwiches in Austin. There are picnic tables next to the store to eat the fresh made sandwiches, this takes you back to a time more than 50 years ago-a good time when it comes to a community grocery. This is one of those must see places in Austin.
