Still the Best Country Dining in Austin/Colorado Counties. See my earlier review below. The quality of food and service is still outstanding, even after these years and months. My experience is that it is not common for a private, family-owned establishment to maintain such a high level of commitment to excellence over an extended time. Still worth the drive.

Love it!: I live 6 miles from the star, and I know the owners really well. My dad used to work for him. My dad actually built it! It's got a really unique "country" atmosphere.. We donated some old wagon wheels and such to decorate. As the last review said, They are VERY nice, excellent service, salad bar is ALWAYS fresh and stocked well, and the food.. wow... the best food you can find with out having to drive all the way to houston, and EXCELLENT prices!!! They are well known for the burgers.. Which I've got to say are pretty good.. VERY VERY filling and extremely low priced. It is $3.25 for a cheeseburger. The Large chicken fried steak ($7.65) contains two 7-8" diameter chicken fried steaks, the best white gravy ever, grilled onions (if you want them) and a bunch of fries or a good baked potato. It is enough food for me to have dinner, and take enough to work the next day to fill me up at lunch time! And it comes with a salad! And for the salad's.. they make their own home made ranch dressing, it is the best dressing i've ever had in my life.. My mother BUYS it from them in big containers instead of making her own or buying it from the store.. The only thing they need to work on is the beer selection.. other than that, I absolutely LOVE the star!! I go there at least once a week! I HIGHLY recommend it, I cannot see how anyone could NOT like it... They also serve a hearty breakfast!

Best Country Dining in Austin/Colorado Counties: The menu offers your simple steak and seafood selections, and the building is your most basic metal structure on a slab. So, why the rave review? Because they do everything they do with excellence and style, and they do not charge an arm and a leg for it. And the service is among the most friendly that you can imagine. The salad bar is always fresh, and they offer wonderful pies and other desserts. Sure, it is a little out of the way, but for a relaxing evening you can't beat this place. Definitely our favorite; a place we go again and again.
