| About: | Just northwest of downtown, located in Gateway Square, is one of the newest additions to a growing population of sushi restaurants in Austin. The decor is simple and modern in design, with muted browns and tans filling the color scheme. The ambiance from day to night is quite different. Daytime hours offer a casual atmosphere for business meetings or quick lunches. In the evening, candles light the dining area creating a relaxed environment. The curved sushi bar seats more than just a handful of people and the sushi chefs enjoy conversing with customers. If you do not see a sushi roll you are interested in on the menu, discuss what you are looking for with the sushi chefs and they will try to accommodate your needs. There is also an extensive Japanese menu, including a separate vegetarian section. |

First of all, I was regular customer when this restaurant just opened.Always recommed to people who want to try Japanese food.
Friday night, My husband, another couple and myself, decided to go that restaurant. when we got there, the restaurant was about half full, and there was a 15 mins wait.
Waiting was at the bar, which happened to be the entrance,, too tight !!!!
Hostess ,, she never smile, just walk herself and leave the menu. What kind of restaurant do that !!
About the Food,,,,
the reason we went there was " Sukiyaki" which is they don't serve on Fri and Sat because they are busy,," Kasu Don "was nasty. it taste like they fry it 2 hours before(disgusting !!) suppose to come with cabbage but it wasn't. I explain to the waitress and said I want cabbage,,she argue with me and said that is Japanese syle ( and I know that "Kasu Don" was not the Japanese style., and I should know i was born in Japan. and I remember first time when they opened, they served fresh Kasu Don,rice, cabbage and yummy sauce.
Sushi was not fresh.
In conculusion Service was bad, along with food and for this will certaly for last !!!
I will never !! never !! go back that restaurant.
We eat at Sushi Sake fairly regularly. It is one of our preferred lunch spots. We have found the service to be consistently accomodating and the offerings diverse, including items not listed on the menu such as the Spicy Susan and Spicy Carlos rolls that keep us coming back. We have never had an issue with the quality of the food and enjoy the quiet atmosphere and traditional touches provided by the staff in the way of greetings.
This is my favorite restaurant in Austin. The best sushi rolls are off the menu. Order the Spicy Carlos, or the Spicy Susan. You'll never look at sushi the same again!! Fantastic place!
