keds50 you must like to eat tomato paste on cardboard instead of pizza. How long have you worked for Papa Johns ?

I recently visited NYC and found the pizza was cooked in the same oven as the one I ate in Lubbock TX. Who would have known that the same NYC style pizza they are so famous for was being cooked in my back yard! Great calzons as well!

It seems like this restaurant is a local gem that everyone associates with as having an exceptional pizza. I ordered a large sausage for pick up, and i was disappointed with the quality of the taste. It had sort of that black liquorish taste and the crust was the best part. The crust should never be the best part, its always optional to eat. Next time i get pizza I'll go to Papa John's or some other chain. Just because a pizza parlor is local doesn't mean they have good pizza.

The crust is the most important part of a pizza. It isn't "optional". You are basically buying the crust with random crap on top. It would be like going to a steakhouse and complaining that the mashed potatoes sucked...but the steak was great. Just to be honest, sometimes they don't do the best sausage pizza. Ask them to throw on some pepppers...you will love it

By the way if you know anything about Italian food that would be fennel sausage which has fennel seeds in it which does have some liquorish flavor to it. I guess they are guilty of giving the pizza an italian flavor. Their bad.
