I love El Fenix for good authentic tex-mex. I love the carne guisada, and the green encheladas. Yummy Sopapillas at 50 cents each are a great end to a meal. Go there. Yum!

Abilene's Best: El Fenix is located in a quaint little village of brightly colored shops in Burro Alley. The decor is a hodge podge of vintage Elvis trays, pinatas, clay decorations from Mexico, and beautiful greenery. Offering both indoor and out door dining, this eatery is perfect for any occasion... romantic evenings, Sunday lunch with the family, and everything in between. The waitstaff is familiar with the customers, even calling the regulars by name. Some of the more consistent patrons have even made it to the El Fenix "Hall of Fame"; they've had a meal named after them and placed on the menu!
Begin your experience at this cafe with a bowl of their delicious beef and cheese queso... a creamy blend of cheeses and meats seasoned perfectly and served with hot, crispy tortilla chips. A variety of mouth-watering dishes await you... my personal favorite is the Best Special which includes chicken enchiladas in flour tortillas served with rice and refried beans topped with delicious homeade sauce and smothered in cheese... Ole!
Other delicious plates include David's Special, fajitas, tamales, and of course the famous not-too-spicy beef tips in gravy. Each dish is prepared with generous portions and the prices are very hard to beat!
Margarita conniseurs are in for a treat when they sample El Fenix's own version, made with wine... a frosty, frozen beverage that is absolutely wonderful!
Visit El Fenix. You will be so glad you did... and thank Olivia and Phillip for the excellent service they provide to the people of Abilene, Texas.
