I have been there once. Only once and it will stay that way.
I understand it was busy. After waiting for about 15 minutes to be seated (hey, it is a restaurant, it happens) we were immediately attended to. My wife and I ordered wine, appetizers and entrees.
40 minutes later the appetizers - yes, that is correct, not the entrees - finally showed up. No one attended to us, asked if we needed anything, apologized for the delay, etc . . . for the entire 40 minutes. There was not even bread to snack on while we waited. I tasted my appetizer (escargot). Room temperature. It was supposed to be hot. My wife's calamari was marginally at a higher temperature than our refrigerator. Not a good way to kick off a meal and certainly there is no excuse why standard menu items and fried calamari cannot be prepared in under 40 minutes!
After about 10 minutes of trying to get someone's attention, we left the appetizers and cancelled our order. The only decent thing they did the whole night was not charge us for the wine we had and offered for us to take our entrees home at no cost. (BTW, apparently our entrees were ready at about the same time as the appetizers.) Of course we declined. After the appetizers, we certainly had no desire to try anything else "prepared" here.
A place this expensive should have no excuse to be operated so poorly. My advice, stay clear and head further up the road to Marcello II.
Been in Mesa Grill a few times now and every time it has been great. The first time was when i was in town for the weekend checking out the city. I was worried that the dining scene wouldn't be that of my home town Chicago. I tried the Central Cafe(?) but was disappointed with the service and the food seemed expensive for what i got. I checked with the hotel and they suggested I try Mesa Grill. It was fantastic. I got a nice table on the patio and heard some live music. The service was attentive and fun. The servers weren't as stuffy as most high end dining establishments have. I felt and was treated like a regular. Ever since that day i have been going in at least a few times a week. The food is good. The service friendly. Drinks are solid. I think the best part of this place is i am comfortable there.
Amazing Place!!
I'm from Mexico, but I live in El Paso TX. I've been here for 6 months, I know it's not much but with the little experience I have from El Paso, I can assure you guys that The Mesa Street Bar and Grill is by far the most amazing restaurant I've ever beet at.
I walk in with a couple of friends and the hostess was there like if she was waiting for us to go.
I smoke, so i asked for a table in the patio, and she took us there. At the moment we sit, we had already 3 glasses of iced water on the table, which we really appreciated because it was like 100 degrees outside, but the patio was cooler than the street because of the A/C.
We ordered steaks and they were just great, not pricy at all. We also took a look at the wine list and we had to ask the waiter what he recomended because the list is huge.
So we ate and had a great bottle of wine, and then I ralized that i left my cigarrettes at home, so i ask the waiter if they sell smokes, and what a surprise, THEY DO!! so i buy a pack and sit with my friends to talk and somke while drinking some beer after the wine, and the waiter was always there asking if we needed something else in a really friendly tone.
Just an AMAZING PLACE if you want the best food and service in El Paso
